and just now i was reading through RedCafe.net after a loongg time, and i came across this thread: who is the most complete player? the threadstarter named Andrea Pirlo. i wanted to laugh. sure, Pirlo is a great passer. heck, his passes are always beautiful. but complete? i don't think so. i was thinking more of steven gerrard and sure enough, the following replies stated gerrard, essien and roy keane as the obvious answers.

now, why gerrard? again, obvious. he's exhibited so many times that he's there when liverpool needs him. right attacking midfield, center midfield.. even in this roles, he exerts a lot of influence in a game. he tracks back to help the defence if needed, he contributes in attacks, he splits open defences with those delirious 30-yarders sometimes. it's like, if he's there, liverpool can feel safe. just watch those matches when liverpool were like sitting ducks. gerrard just came and bulldozed the lousy moments away. like the 2005 champions league finals. witness how gerrard almost single-handedly brought liverpool back from the dead. class.

i bet man utd had rued in some moment or another that we didn't get michael essien. yes, essien, that chelsea player who gave United related answers when he did some interview in the summer that he signed on to chelsea from lyon. "who's your favourite player?" "Cantona." "Where's your favourite stadium?" "Old Trafford". "Hardest opponent?" "Paul Scholes." see? he's a man utd fan stuck in a chelsea jersey.

to be honest, i'm missing the football season a lot. so imagine how i felt when there was a thread to recollect all the 06/07 Footballing Beauty. and i got the chance to see this - again:

i love that goal! notice how rooney gathers the ball and calmly flicks the ball into the net. and note how david james was rooted there, mesmerised as the ball gently slopes into the net in one smooth move. so elegant.

but this was my fave goal for some time:

scholesy's goal speaks it all.

and the grandest of it all.. i'll never tire of this just like i'll never tire of '99 champs league finals:

i think i shall stop taking up so much blogspace about united. but i can't help it; i totally love them.
