it's finally here! the mega showdown between AC Milan and Liverpool in Athens for the Champions League Finals 2007! Kaka, Maldini, Pirlo, Gattuso and Co. versus Gerrard, Alonso, Mascherano, Riise, Carra and Co. a relished final which is the exact repeat of the 2005 Champions League Finals (remember that great game where liverpool bounced back to beat Milan on penalties after equalising within 6 minutes after being 0-3 down in the first half? CLASS!!)
and this time, i'm betting on the rossoneri to win. Kaka to get that clincher and out of the blue, Gilardino decides it's his day and he wants to score, so he poked one in, cancelling out Riise's equalising piledriver minutes before. liverpool scrambles to get a second one, but gerrard's shot was just too wide. the referee looks at his watch, putting the whistle to his mouth as pepe reina quickly takes a long goal kick that lands at Mascherano's feet, who fumbled and lays a poor cross to sustitute Mark Gonzalez. speedy speeds down the wings, but the Milan defenders are just too impenetrable, putting their mastering of the catenaccio style of defending in place. suddenly crouch comes flying in, gonzalez crosses and crouch executes a scissors kick... only to fall flat on the ground and the ball was chested down by Nesta. Milan starts to stroke the ball around, with Kaka teasing the Liverpool midfield once every few seconds. then the final whistle was blown. liverpool slump down on the pitch, defeated. milan players kiss their badges and the trophy, lifting them as well.. and the travelling San Siro crowd swells into a huge Milan choir, singing AC Milan's anthem (whatever it is) meanwhile, somewhere in england, sir alex ferguson laughs as he opens the wine bottle presented to him as a gift by Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti..
that's my short prediction of what's gonna happen in the 90 minutes ++ for the game later (:
but i don't think it'll be that dramatic.
but please, play entertaining football. FA Cup Finals at the new Wembley bored me to sleep..
